The painter here has wisely drawn
A reverend prelate clad in lawn,
Which when some pages hence are past
(in case this piece so long should last)
Will serve to show what Bishops wore
And how they XXX in days of yore
But could the painter have expressed
The various virtues in his breast
The inward clothing of his mind,
This had been useful to mankind,
But this exceeds the painters art
No colours can describe the heart,
Yet what to painting is denied
By poetry is oft supplied
Oh! Were I equal to the theme
How would I eternize his name,
Recount a thousand virtues XXX,
Get leave untold a thousand more,
That future ages when they read it,
Should hardly give the Story credit,
But since t'is more than I can do,
To give the praise that justly due,
I'll tell you, reader where to find
The furniture of Story's mind,
" the first epistle of St. Paul"
" to Timothy contains it all"
