Count of Luxembourg. This family descends from Charlemagne in two lines - see Gibbon, chapter beginning 2nd Crusade - one line being through dukes of Lorraine - who descended in male line from Charlemagne - see Gibbon and Hallam

Charles IV Emperor d. 1378 The family of Luxemburg had now become one of the greatest in Germany. His empire was XXX. See Hallam and Russells - Modern Europe

John of Luxemburg killed 1346. John was killed before his father's death, in the battle of Cressy 1346. He was Count of Luxemburg and in right of his wife - King of Bohemia (Russell's XXX Europe)

John of Luxemburg (above) married Elizabeth daughter of Emperor Wenceslaus. Wenceslaus left one daughter = Elizabeth. see Russell

Ottocar King of Bohemia = a daughter of Grand Duke of Russia. Ottocar left an only son Wenceslaus. Russell. The wife of Ottocar was daughter of Grand Duke of Russia and her proud spirit incited her husband to revolt against Rudolph Count of Hapsburg, Emperor. Who had served under him - see this well explained in Russell). She was descended from Anne, daughter of Emperor Romanos and through 4 Emperors from Emperor Basil the Macedonian.
Her other sister married Otto II Emperor of Germany...
and from her descends Emperor Henry II of Germany see note in Hallam (XXX Germany first p.), from Agatha a daughter of Henry II descends Edgar and his sister Margaret married to Malcom III King of Scotland 1059-1093 from whom descends all the successing kings of Scotland to Alexander III 1286, Bruce and the Stuarts. Malcom's daughter Margaret or Maud married Henry I of England from her all the Plantagenets. Agatha mother of Edward XXX and Margaret Queen of Scotland finding she was well received and treated by Malcom III called from Hungary her brother. He is called a relative in Saxon Chronicles - called Creighton. The first of the name in Scotland - from him the Earls of XXX. See Rapier and the Saxon Chronicles. The father, Henry II dies very poor, see Hallam
Henry I of France married a daughter of the Grand Duke of Russia. see Hallan so the blood of the XXX and probably Achilles unifies with the XXX, the House of Austria, Saxony and XXX
This Emperor Romanos for XXX from memory was the IV or V Emperor of the East from Basil the Macedonian. See lineage of Basil in Gibbon, also a curious account of the marriage of these sisters in Gibbon.
Basil descends from the Royal family of Parthia who go back 500 years BC and from Phillip King Macedon father of Alexander the Great and from Achilles. See Smith's History of Greece and Gillies History of Greece.

So the family of Rivers descends from the family of Luxemburg which gave three/four Emperors to Germany Henry VII, Charles IV, Wenceslaus and Sigismund and so all the succeeding group.
From Charemagne. Gibbon.
From the kings of Bohemia and through them from the Grand Dukes of Russia to Ruric who founded the Russian Empire and through them from the Emperor of the East Basil.
From the great family of Lorraine who descend from Charlemagne.
