From a letter dated 1/1/20
"I enclose a highly decorated eulogy presented to "Major General" Hill on the day of peace celebrations here. The English translation is distinctly funny & you will see that the Risaldar-Major & I 'enlarge the splendour of Kulachi'! "


This is (possibly) urdu. Here is (possibly) a translation:
Translation of the poem dealing with the statements of the World-Wide war as well as the Afghanese War, and showing victory in the favour of the Allies.

Resident of Kulachi
1. Oh, with what mouth can we, the mortals, praise Him, from whom the whole of the universe sprang into existence.
2. He, being Almighty God has conferred his boons on mankind of each and every sort, especially the Reign of Peace.
3. We were in all sorts of enjoyments, but it was unfortunately unacceptable to His high he will for a time being.
4. Austria, after she had seen Servia in low and humble condition, catching hold of the pretence invaded the latter.
5. Russia had also to side with Servia on account of the relationship which the former was nourishing with the latter.
6. Germany seeing the matters under these circumstances, was also fired by the ambition of conquest.
7. Germany invaded Russia with all its might and main, and exercised a terrible influence on France to bring her into the battlefield.
8. Belgium, which remained as a neutral, and which will A as a barrier in the way of Germany to invade France, was trampled over.
9. Our benign and noble government could not bear the miseries of the poor strickens i.e. Belgians.
10. Our benign and noble government which prefers Liberty and Justice with the core of its heart cent for fluids cavalries and infantries into the battlefield.
11. Germany, seeing the matters under these circumstances, begged for help from the foreign nations.
12. With a view to succeed in her purpose, Germany cent fourth her ambassadors in all directions, with the ultimate result that Turkey became entangled in the net that the German diplomatists had so cunningly and carefully woven around them.
13. Turkey without realizing the consequences of war, made herself of the asylum of so many miseries.
14. Italy gave ultimatum to Sultan to seize arms against her. Now the war began to wage violently in land, air and ocean.
15. Millions of the people died in this Great War from both sides. Now Russian Power became nil & void because of the civil war
16. Russia, under these circumstances began to tremble from fear, and turned from a fast friend into a formidable foe.
17. After this war began to wage violently in the western parts of Europe.
18. America, seeing so many mishaps and miseries at the hands of the Germans, gave them ultimatum to turn hostile.
19. All kept on waging for more than four years. Now Bulgaria became powerless to fight.
20. Turkey, seeing her end approach i.e. Seeing that the flower of her chivalry was near to decay, threw arms and begged to sue for peace.
21. Germany was totally defeated on 11th Nov. 1918. Hence, the hurras of congratulations were raised every where in the realm of the Allies.
22. Kaiser upon whose shoulders the responsibility of war depended, bidding his last farewell to the capital had to live under the protection of the Queen of Holland.
23. Kaiser received rapid rewarded. Truth triumphed in the long run. It was said to be for hand, " Might is right". But now the fact was proved, " Right is might." How nice Shakespeare says that thrice he is armed that has his struggles right.
24. The League of Nations kept on discussing the terms of treaty for full seven months.
25. The terms of treaty were completed on the 28th June. Germany was compelled to sign the treaty paper without any hesitation.
26. Again the same at Reign of Peace pervades in the summits of the mountains, plains and the woods, and the miseries have disappeared like the snow before the sun.
27. I offer my best congratulations to his Majesty George V, who is praiseworthy in all respects.
28. Lord Chalmesford, the Viceroy of India saved her from the foreign invasions in the most critical moments.
29. Our surprise knows no bounds, when we direct our survey towards the scenery that goat i.e. Amir Kabul showed teeth to the Lion i.e. The King Emperor. But as the empty vessel makes much noise she acknowledged sovereignty.
30. When the Lion threatened the goat by throwing bombs from the aeroplane especially in Kabul, the goat lost wits.
31. The usual stipend was stopped, and he was given that the leisure time of six months to ponder over his own interests, otherwise he was like a rat to be killed.
32. Sir Hamilton Grant, who was the President of Afghan Peace-Conference, got hold of the minds of the Frontiers people by his benevolent policy.
33. The services rendered by the Rajahs of the independent state, shine forth like the sun and moon.
34. The Indians, who have rendered assistance with their heart and soul, deserve a gracious glance of love and affection from your noble self.
35. The whole of India is famine stricken and living from hand to mouth. Hundreds and thousands of peoples have moreover, turned to begging.
36. The poor cannot get even maize for their food, while wheat to sells at the rate of 5 seers a rupee and six seers of millet a rupee.
37. The children, young and old long eagerly after milk and butter, while oil sales at the rate of nine chatahs a rupee and ghee four chatahs a rupee.
38. The dearness of fodder as well as the good of the people wholly and solely depends upon the breeding of cows.
39. The dearness of the fodder begs description. Moreover the maladies have wrought their havoc on the other hand.
40. While 70,000 cows are put reads daily, why should not be such a bad state of our dear motherland.
41. The dearness of fodder as well as the good of the peoples wholly and solely depend upon the good breeding of cows.
42. By your gracious mercy, be so kind as to open cow sheds, and by the Protector of cows. Kindly confer boon upon us by stopping the cow slaughter.
43. By so doing, the channels of milk will flow everywhere the length and breadth of India. Hence plague, cholera, and influenza will turn to heels.
44. Bypassing the Khilafat-Question once peacefully you can win the hearts of all the Indians. This is the humble request of all the Indians.
45. The Military officers, in general, and Major Colonel Hill in particular (they may ever remain peacefully) have increased the splendours and elegance of Kulachi.
46. Captain Hockey is a very brave and clever man. Captain Amar Singh into his veins the blue blood of Rajahs than circulates is a veteran of the Jodpur army.
47. Lieutenant Story and Major Hushyar Singh, accompanied by the Sikh warriors have enlarge the splendour of Kulachi.
48. Blessed in England, and placed in the independent state of Jodhpur, and blessed are the veterans who have seen the hazard for the sake of the King Emperor.
49. We, the residence of Kulachi are hard pressed by the difficulty for obtaining drinking water. We most respectfully bed that some good and easy means for obtaining drinking water should be made. We were anxiously waiting for this happy day for a long time " cf. your manifold kindness is the earnest desire of Sundar"
