The Genealogy of the Story Family

Errington, Lisknaskea, Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland

Tree: Story Family

Notes:
Family home built near Lisknaskea by Col. R.W. Story ( grandson of Archdeacon Story ). There was a fire there, in which perished one ( or two ) of the children of James Hamilton Story. In 1897, Col. Robert Story wrote:

Errington, Co. Tyrone is now (1897) in the possession of Evelyn James 5th son of Joseph Story of Bingfield and his wife Hilda; having been bequeathed to him by Sara Mary Anne Story of 17 Bryanstone Square, London in 1896.

Arthur Patrick Story adds:

Evelyn Story in 1914 or 1913 sold Errington to a farmer.

Nancy Douglas-Withers (nee Story) adds:

Uncle Evy sold Errington without telling Aunty Hilda. He just walked in one day and told her to start packing because the house was sold. She loved the place and never really recovered from the shock. When I met them in 1938 they were living in a house, that was really two semi-detached houses knocked into one, near Hythe and Aunt Hilda was still re-telling the tale of the day Errington was sold.
